Gita reciting contest a big hit among students...

Hundreds of children gathered at Setupati Higher Secondary School here on Sunday to participate in the final rounds of Gita chanting competition organised by Chinmaya Mission.

R. Gopalasamy, secretary, Chinmaya Mission-Madurai, said over 12,500 students took part in the school-level training and competitions held earlier.

“Preliminary competitions were held at schools for students studying LKG to Class IX under different categories,” he said.

Uma Kannan, Correspondent, Thiagarajar College, inaugurated the competitions.

Swami Sivayogananda, Acharya of Chinmaya Mission-Madurai, said students were asked to recite the 14th chapter of Gita which spoke about human values. “This is the sixteenth year of the competition and the number of participants have increased from the 10,000 students who took part last year. Since it transcends all boundaries, learning Gita helps students prepare for daily challenges and instils motivation, values and skills,” he said.

“Students and teachers look forward to the competition every year, at a time when too much focus is given on academics,” he added.

Many participants said they had been taking part in the competition for the last few years.

“The students discipline themselves for a few months and learn verses. They are taught the meaning which is helpful in understanding the essence of the text,” said R. Revathy whose daughter participated in the competition.

T. Perumal, another parent who had come with his daughter, said preparing for the recitation contest helped in sharpening the memory of children.

Echoing his views, Swami Sivayogananda said the recitation also helped in improving Sanskrit pronunciation, which in turn helped assimilate other languages.

குழந்தைகளின் வாழ்க்கை மேம்பட, அவர்களுக்கு பகவத் கீதையை கற்றுத் தரவேண்டும் என, சின்மயா மிஷன் ஆச்சார்யா சுவாமி சிவயோகானந்தா கேட்டுக் கொண்டார்.

மதுரை சின்மயா மிஷன் சார்பில், பள்ளி மாணவ, மாணவியருக்கு கீதை ஒப்புவித்தல் போட்டி நடைபெற்றது. போட்டியில், 35 பள்ளிகளைச் சேர்ந்த 12,500 மாணவ, மாணவியர் பங்கேற்றனர். எல்.கே.ஜி. முதல் 9ஆம் வகுப்பு வரையிலான மாணவ, மாணவியருக்கு 5 பிரிவுகளாக நடத்தப்பட்ட இப்போட்டியில், இறுதிச் சுற்றுக்கு 450 மாணவ, மாணவியர் தேர்வு செய்யப்பட்டனர்.

மதுரை சேதுபதி மேல்நிலைப் பள்ளியில் ஞாயிற்றுக்கிழமை காலை நடைபெற்ற இறுதிச் சுற்றுப் போட்டிகளை, மதுரை தியாகராஜர் கலைக் கல்லூரி தாளாளர் உமா கண்ணன் குத்துவிளக்கேற்றி துவக்கி வைத்தார். சின்மயா மிஷன் தலைவர் மீனாட்சி சுந்தரம் தலைமை வகித்தார். சென்ட்ரல் பாங்க் ஆப் இந்தியா மண்டல மேலாளர் ஆசைத்தம்பி சிறப்பு விருந்தினராகக் கலந்துகொண்டார்.

இதில், குரூப்-ஏ என்ற பிரிவில் பங்கேற்ற எல்.கே.ஜி. மாணவ, மாணவியர் அனைவருக்கும் பரிசுகள் வழங்கப்பட்டன. குரூப்-பி-இல் முதல் பரிசை அனிதா (டிவிஎஸ் லட்சுமி மெட்ரிக். பள்ளி), 2ஆம் பரிசை வர்க்கீஸ் (சின்மயா வித்யாலயா), 3ஆம் பரிசை நஜிடேத் (டிவிஎஸ் லட்சுமி மெட்ரிக். பள்ளி), குரூப்-சி-இல் முதல் பரிசை சிவகாமி (டிவிஎஸ் லட்சுமி மெட்ரிக். பள்ளி, 2ஆம் பரிசை சஞ்சிதா நாமகிரி(டிவிஎஸ் லட்சுமி மெட்ரிக். பள்ளி), 3ஆவது பரிசை லாவண்யா (கிருஷ்ணம்மாள் ராமசுப்பையர் பள்ளி), குரூப்-டி-இல் முதல் பரிசை பிரமாதா (சின்மயா வித்யாலயா), 2ஆம் பரிசை புவனேஸ்வரி (கேந்திர வித்யாலயா), 3ஆவது பரிசை தாரிணி (ஸ்ரீமன் நாயகியார் வித்யாலயா), குரூப்-இ-இல் முதல் பரிசை பிரியலட்சுமி (சின்மயா வித்யாலயா), 2ஆவது பரிசை பொன்விக்னேஷ் (விகாசா மெட்ரிக். பள்ளி), 3ஆவது பரிசை லட்சுமி(இந்திரா காந்தி நினைவு பள்ளி, திருநகர்) ஆகியோர் பெற்றனர்.

பரிசளிப்பு விழாவுக்கு, சின்மயா மிஷன் துணைத் தலைவர் சேகர் தலைமை வகித்தார். அரவிந்த் கண் மருத்துவமனை க்ளைகோமா பிரிவு இயக்குநர் கிருஷ்ணதாஸ் சிறப்பு விருந்தினராகக் கலந்துகொண்டு, மாணவ, மாணவியருக்கு சான்றிதழ்களையும், பரிசுகளையும், ஊக்குவித்த ஆசிரியர்களுக்கு பரிசுகளையும் வழங்கினார்.

விழாவில் ஆசியுரை வழங்கி, சின்மயா மிஷன் ஆச்சார்யா சுவாமி சிவயோகானந்தா பேசியது: கீதையை குழந்தைகளுக்கு கற்க வேண்டும் என்பதற்காக ஆண்டுதோறும் இப்போட்டிகள் நடத்தப்பட்டு வருகின்றன. கீதையை குழந்தைகள் கற்பதால், எதிர்காலத்தில் வாழ்க்கையை மேம்படுத்திக் கொள்ளமுடியும். கீதையை நன்கு கற்றுத் தேர்ந்தால், குழந்தைகளின் வாழ்வு மேம்படுவதுடன், சிறப்பான வாழ்க்கையை அமைத்துக் கொள்ளமுடியும்.

குழந்தைகளுக்கு வீடுகளில் கீதையை கற்றுக் கொடுப்பதன் மூலம், அவர்களது பெற்றோர்களின் வாழ்க்கையும் சிறப்படையும். குழந்தைகள் ஆன்மிக வழியில் நடக்கவும் இதுபோன்ற போட்டிகள் உதவும் என்றார்.

சின்மயா மிஷன் தலைவர் மீனாட்சிசுந்தரம், விஹெச்பி மாவட்டத் தலைவர் சின்மயா சோமசுந்தரம், ஒருங்கிணைப்பாளர் கீதா சாயிபாபா, செயலர் ஆர். கோபாலசாமி, பொதுச் செயலர் டி. திலகர் மற்றும் ஆசிரிய, ஆசிரியைகள் திரளாகக் கலந்துகொண்டனர். விழாவையொட்டி, ஆன்மிகப் புத்தகங்கள் விற்கப்பட்டன.

On the eve of Deepavali Celebrations, Chinmaya Seva Trust, in association with the 'Rotary Club of Madurai North West' and 'Tirukkovil Bhakthargal Peravai' organised an event, to the inmates of Sevashram orphanage at Madurai. Deepavali New dresses and sumptuous dinner were provided to 160 children, staying at this Home. Further the children also enjoyed the crackers supplied to them, after the dinner.

Mr. Thilagar, Genl. Secy and Mr. Gopalsamy, secretary of Chinmaya Mission, Madurai, participated and distributed the dresses to the inmates, as guided by Acharya Sw. Sivayogananda. Yogi Raja and Prof. Raja Govindasamy delivered spl. lecturers to the audience, on 'Memory improving'..

Large number of Rotary Club and Tirukoil Bakthargal Peravai members, also joined that evening.
